In Welcome to the Forum
Hi everyone!
I'm Lela, one half of Now What?! Pottery Works! I intend these forums to be a way for you to ask us questions, get to know us, and act as a resource for you!
A little about me! I grew up in a small resort town in Southern California, where it snowed in the winter and had a lake for summer adventures. I never imagined I would end up being an artist and instructor for a living, growing up I wanted to go to massage school! After high school, I moved to Arcata, Ca and attended Humboldt State University. I spent 5 years there studying studio art and art history, and spending every extra second I could in the ceramics lab there. I worked as a kiln loader, and glaze mixer for the studio, where I gained tons of wonderful experience. While in the studio, I met my now husband, and the other half of Now What?!, Nick.
After college, we spent a little while in northern California, before moving to Hillsboro, Oregon, and getting involved with Radius Art Studio in Portland Oregon. I've been mixing glaze for them for 4 years, and became one of their instructors in 2022. I love getting to teach people how to make pots, and seeing the moment that all the struggle becomes worth it!
Besides making pots, I love hanging out with Nick, baking, our cats Eva and Lucie, and our rats, Daisy, Peach, and Rosalina. I've recently started biking, and love playing video games, partiularly old Mario games, and suprisingly Splatoon! I'm a huge Lord of the Rings fan, and all around nerd.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
